IE 7 compatibility

Posted under News & Pivotal CRM 5 Platform

CDC software has just informed about the development of work at making Pivotal CRM 5.9 platform compatible with Internet Explorer 7 web browser. Unfortunately, the compatibility is not assured yet.

Below you can find a text of the statement:

This product bulletin is an update to the maintenance releases designed to deliver compatibility between Pivotal CRM and the following products:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7)
  • Microsoft Windows Vista (Business Edition, Ultimate Edition and Enterprise Edition)
  • Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Outlook, and web components)
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 - provides compatibility with Microsoft Vista
  • Crystal Reports XI (CRXI r2 SP2) - Business Objects has elected not to provide CRX compatibility with Microsoft Vista

CDC Software was initially targeting the Q2 timeframe for general availability. However, due to the complexity of adapting Pivotal CRM to a number of fundamental application and platform changes introduced by Microsoft the releases have been delayed.

A Change in Approach

Like many Enterprise software vendors, CDC Software is encountering a number of issues creating compatibility with the latest release of Microsoft’s flagship products.

As reported in a June 2007 Pivotal CRM Product Bulletin, CDC Software continues to work closely with Microsoft to resolve compatibility issues between IE7 and Pivotal Rich Client introduced by Microsoft’s move to conform more closely to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards.

In order to speed delivery, CDC Software will deliver the compatibility releases in two separate vehicles:

  • A maintenance release covering IE7, Vista, Exchange 2007, SQL Server 2005 SP2 and CRXI compatibility targeted for delivery in early Q407
  • A maintenance release covering Office 2007 compatibility to be created following the completion of the above-listed release.

Posted under News & Pivotal CRM 5 Platform

CDC Software has published a Service Pack for Pivotal Sync Stream 5.9.

Service Pack adds number of functionalities to Outlook Synchronization Manager tool, as well as corrects several reported mistakes.

Service Pack’s installation is necessary for a proper functioning of
LinkPoint for Pivotal CRM, which enables an integration of e-mail with Lotus Notes server and Novell GroupWise.
Below you can find a detailed list of changes introduced by the Service Pack.

Additional Features Added in Service Pack 3

64270
The Outlook Synchronization Manager (OSM) now sends an e-mail notification if it shuts down due to a database connection failure.
The recipient address is specified by the following registry key:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pivotal\SyncStream\OSM
Name: NotificationAddress
String Value: <Email address of user to be alerted>

64208
The OSM now archives old logs. By default, the OSM starts a new log once the current log is either 1 day old or 10 MB in size. The OSM archives old logs by renaming them to OSMLog YYYY-MM-DD hh.mm.ss.txt. By default, archived logs are deleted after 90 days.

64368
Improved the speed of the OSM startup scan.

64395
Added log statistics for the Outlook scan about the number of the items deleted, modified or not synchronizing.

64474
The OSM now attempts to restart if it loses connection to the Active Notification Manager (ANM).
